This full-color,
10-volume collection examines what
makes Earth similar to and different
from other planets in the solar
system. Current information on our
galaxy and on our solar system’s
sun, planets and moons is coupled
with full-color images including
historical photos, diagrams, the
latest photographs from NASA, and
artists’ conceptions of future space
endeavors.
Individual volumes include
simple, easy-to-understand diagrams
of each planet’s location and orbit
in the solar system. Full-colour end
sheets show an illustration of the
solar system and can help the user
develop basic map reading skills. An
image of the Milky Way Galaxy taken
by the Hubble Space Telescope is
included within these end sheets.
A consistent layout ensures a
cohesive learning experience. A
photo or illustration on the right
hand page relates to a question that
is posed and answered on the left
hand side of each page -- a layout
that is consistent throughout each
volume.
Challenge words are boldfaced the
first time they appear on each page,
and a definition of these words can
be found in the back-of-the-book
glossary. This important feature
will help the reader build their
vocabulary.
Fun facts about planets and space
are listed in an easy-to-read format
that will engage all readers.
Each book includes an index and a
list of related websites and
additional print resources that will
help the users expand their research
as well as provide a better
understanding of the research
process.
